Role Overview
The Privacy Consultant will be responsible for independently consulting and assisting clients on privacy and regulatory matters, focusing on data protection governance, risk management, and compliance program implementation. This role requires the design and integration of privacy solutions, adaptable to clients’ products, operations, and international compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Program Management: Oversee client data compliance programs, developing and implementing processes, policies, and procedures within their business units.
- Comprehensive Privacy Solutions: Advise on privacy and data protection issues across all client relations, including customer, vendor, and internal staff interactions.
- Privacy by Design: Integrate privacy solutions into clients’ operational workflows, products, and channels, aligned with legal, technological, and market standards.
- Regulatory Guidance: Stay updated on privacy, data protection, AI, and consumer protection regulations globally, offering actionable insights to ensure client compliance.
- Documentation & Content Creation: Draft privacy policies, data processing agreements, privacy and data protection policies, procedures and workflows, and other regulatory documents.
- Framework Implementation: Manage projects for frameworks like SOC2 and ISO, ensuring seamless compliance integration for clients.
- Research on Regulatory and Market Developments:
- Conduct Research on Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on recent regulatory developments, industry standards, and enforcement actions impacting privacy and data protection GRC. This includes regularly monitoring governmental bodies, legal publications, and compliance resources to gather updates on relevant laws, such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and HIPAA, among others.
- Analyze Enforcement Actions and Fines: Investigate recent enforcement actions by regulatory authorities (e.g., European Data Protection Board, FTC, FCC, FCA) to identify trends, common compliance issues, and implications for the organization.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2-5 years in privacy/data protection as a legal counsel or compliance specialist, ideally within the tech sector.
- Knowledge: Strong foundation in GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other privacy regulations; familiarity with tech and data protection terminologies.
- Skills: Analytical, solution-driven mindset; proficient in project and client relationship management; Native-level proficiency in English (both written and spoken); clear, professional, effective and concise writtent and spoken communication in English.
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in communicating and simplifying complex regulatory requirements and risk scenarios to non-specialist stakeholders.
- Personal Qualities: Independent, tech-savvy, adaptable to dynamic work environments, with high attention to detail.
